sailing the dream
meet the boat...

saloon & Galley
Two steps lead up to the raised deck saloon. Nine large windows create a bright space and provide excellent visibility for the beautiful life at anchor. Forward and to port is the reading nook with a display space for plants or cozy interior details with two 12V sockets. Aft of the reading nook is a L-shaped dinette with a convertible table. At the starboard side of the table you could put two high chairs or work at standing-height. Along the port side of the saloon behind and below the dinette there is storage and another three 12V sockets. There is convenient accessible storage beneath the table as well. The battery compartment is located beneath the seating area and easily accessible next to the companionway.
The galley is located to starboard in the saloon and offers generous Corian countertop space for meal preparation. A deep double stainless-steel sink with a new faucet is set into the forward counter. A saltwater foot pump at the starboard sink allows for pre-rinsing dishes to conserve fresh water, while a separate foot pump at the port side delivers carbon-filtered fresh drinking water from the tanks. Outboard of the counter, open lockers with stoppers provide convenient storage for dishes and everyday essentials. Below the sink are drawers and a dedicated trash bin.
The starboard counter houses two deep top-loading refrigeration compartments: one actively cooled by a cooling plate, the other passively cooled for storing vegetables and fruit. Additional cold storage is provided by an Engel 12V fridge/freezer located beneath the floorboards. Cooking facilities include a gimbaled Force 10 four-burner stove with oven and broiler, complemented by a portable induction hob that can be placed anywhere on the counter. For off-grid versatility, a GoSun Sport Solar Oven offers the option to bake and cook outdoors using solar energy.
going aft...
Two steps down from the deck saloon, in the starboard-side passageway to the aft cabin, is a well-equipped chart table, drawers, and storage beneath, plus a hanging locker to the side. Outboard are the electrical panels, Starlink router, EPIRB, AIS, indoor VHF radio station & two 12V sockets. To port is the access door to the engine room, along with display panels for the watermaker, solar array, and inverter.
The aft stateroom offers spacious and comfortable private quarters. A double berth with a queen-size mattress including ventilation underlay to port includes drawers beneath, while to starboard a straight settee functions as a daybed or a quiet retreat. Lockers line the settee, and a large hanging locker is positioned at its forward end with a 12V socket on top. Five ports and a large hatch provide excellent ventilation and natural light. The space is well-appointed with reading lights, two mounted 12V fans, and two 12V sockets for charging devices.
The ensuite head is located forward and to port of the berth. It features a Raritan manual head with a full-size seat (matching the forward head), a stainless-steel sink set into a vanity with a new faucet and storage below, and a large sliding-door cabinet outboard. The shower is integrated into the space, with a 360° curtain keeping the compartment dry. A Caframo fan ensures optimal ventilation for moisture control.

Electrical System
In 2022, Anila underwent a complete electrical refit. The vessel was fully re-wired with a diagram available, all cabling neatly run through conduits, protected with appropriate fuses, and clearly labeled for ease of maintenance. At the same time, the system was upgraded to modern LiFePO4 batteries from SOK, ensuring maximum efficiency and reliability. Most recently, a new inverter/charger was installed to further enhance onboard energy management.
With the addition of 960W of solar panels, the 620Ah lithium battery bank charges efficiently, allowing you to power all essential and luxury onboard systems with ease including Starlink internet, refrigeration, the watermaker, washing machine, and all navigation electronics. This setup delivers true energy independence for extended cruising.
Mechanical System
Purpose-built for serious cruising, Anila features a true workshop and mechanical space, accessed via a door in the passageway to the aft cabin. This dedicated area offers full standing headroom, an opening hatch to the cockpit, and a port for natural light and ventilation, creating an ideal environment for hands-on maintenance at sea or in remote anchorages.
Along the port side, a robust stainless-steel workbench is fitted with a bench vise, drill press, and well-organized storage cabinets above and below, fully stocked with the tools needed for repairs and upgrades anywhere in the world. Fuel filters and manifolds are positioned for immediate access, and the engine is fully exposed on both sides, making servicing straightforward even underway.
The watermaker and washing machine are installed at the aft-facing side of the workbench for quick, easy operation. This space ensures that all critical systems remain accessible, serviceable, and ready to keep you self-sufficient on extended passages far from shore.
Anila is equipped with a complete bilge pump system for safety and convenience. The main bilge pump is connected to both an alarm and a run-time counter, providing instant awareness of any activity in the bilge. The manual bilge pump is accessible from the helm. All pumps are mounted for quick and easy removal, ensuring straightforward maintenance. The shower drains into the main deep bilge, where a dedicated self-priming pump installed to empty the bilge efficiently after showering. This thoughtful setup keeps the system reliable, accessible, and easy to service.

DECK & HULL
Designed by renowned naval architect Bill Lapworth and built by Jensen Marine in Costa Mesa, California, the Cal 2-46 was engineered, as the early brochure states, for maximum impact strength. Constructed with hand-laid heavy fiberglass laminate she offers exceptional durability. The deck is plywood cored, with additional insulation in the saloon overhead and both cabins for enhanced comfort in all climates.
With a shallow draft of only 5 ft, she grants access to most anchorages around the world. Her long keel is integral to the hull with encapsulated ballast, offering strength and reassurance, while a large spade rudder delivers superb control underway. In 2022, the rudder was completely replaced and the entire steering system thoroughly inspected. With her balanced lines – slight overhangs, spoon bow, moderate reverse sheer, and well-proportioned transom – Anila is as seaworthy as she is elegant, ready to carry her next owners safely and gracefully to new horizons.
The dry and safe centre cockpit is protected by a robust hard dodger that is strong enough to stand on and which also houses the solar panels and GPS antenna. For optimal ventilation, it features one opening window and two roll-up canvas windows forward. At the helm, a 12V socket is conveniently placed for charging navigation tablets or phones, making life underway practical and connected. The navigation pod is fitted with a Garmin chartplotter including AIS from Vesper Marine with a WiFi network and radar images fed from the Garmin Fantom, alongside an autopilot steering module. Two multifunction B&G displays integrate all sailing instrument data via the NMEA 2000 network, clearly visible from anywhere in the cockpit under the protection of the dodger. From the cockpit you can also control the Hydrovane self-steering system, a reliable and valuable feature for passagemaking that offers dependable course-keeping from light airs to gale-force conditions without consuming power.
Storage is generous. The cockpit coamings hold propane and fishing gear, while a large stern locker swallows lines, fenders, boat hooks, and cruising toys. The aft lazarette functions like a garage, keeping all gear organised and secure. At the stern, lightweight dinghy davits and a boarding ladder maximise space and convenience. The port side ladder is ideal for everyday dinghy boarding when heading ashore or exploring anchorages.
SAILS & RIGGING
All sails have been replaced within the past five years. Completing the inventory is a self-stabilising Oxley spinnaker, usable from 5 to 20 knots of wind on apparent wind angles from 70 to 180 degrees, complete with a snuffer for easy and safe handling. The triradial offshore mainsail features three reef points and a two-line reefing system led aft to the cockpit, allowing a single sailor to reef securely underway without leaving the cockpit. The offshore headsail, with matching UV cover, also has three marked reefing points and is fitted with a luff pad to maintain optimal shape when partially furled.
Standing rigging was replaced in 2020 with Sta-Lok 8 mm and 10 mm 19-strand wire, professionally swaged by XW Rigging in England. All chainplates and tangs were replaced, and all deck mounted fittings are reinforced with stainless steel backing plates for maximum strength offshore.
The running rigging has also been completely replaced in 2020 with high-performance UHDPE-core lines, ensuring strength, low stretch, and durability for offshore sailing. A nearly complete spare set of replacement lines is included.

Dinghy & Outboard
The Portland Pudgy dinghy is a standout addition, exceptionally safe, versatile, and ideal for reaching shore either under oar or powered by the Suzuki 2.5 hp long shaft outboard. With its optional sailing kit, it transforms into a fun daysailer. You can easily beach it for shore excursions, take it fishing, or use it for exploring remote anchorages.
Uniquely, the Pudgy also doubles as a liferaft. With its liferaft canopy installed and stowed in the bow cradle underway, it meets US Coast Guard approval and is virtually unsinkable, offering an outstanding level of safety and versatility for long-distance cruising.
If you’ve read this far, there’s only one thing left to do: come aboard and see Anila for yourself!
